Simon Ellis
Simon Ellis is a London-based New Zealand-born independent choreographer, dancer and film-maker. He has a practice-led PhD (looking at improvisation and documentation) and is a Reader at Roehampton Dance in London. Simon trained at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, and he continues to be involved in developing new dance projects in Australia. His choreographies have included site-specific work, screendance, installation, web-art, and black box projects. Simon is a Work Place artist at The Place. www.skellis.net
Dorothy Martirano
Dorothy Martirano has performed in North, Central and South America, Europe and Asia, and most recently in Thailand, Laos, and France. She plays locally and regionally with several groups, including Ms. M & the Jokers, Almost “A”, Tangotta, Compost Q, Spinnin’ Slidin’, Scratchin’.
She enjoys playing alternate styles, and specializes in contemporary music and improvisation, especially with dancers. She has premiered many new works for violin.
She toured and recorded during the 1980s and early 90s with Composer/Performer/Inventor Salvatore Martirano, doing solo performances of music composed for her, and duos with "Four not Two" a composing/performing interactive computer/MIDI synthesizer system for improvisation.
She teaches at the Community Center for the Arts in Urbana, IL, and has performed and recorded with the Tone-Road Ramblers, the Cal Arts Contemporary Chamber Players, and the University of Chicago Contemporary Chamber Players. She was concertmaster of the CUSO 21 years, and has performed with the Springfield Symphony, the Illinois Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia da Camera, the Prairie Ensemble, and others. She has recorded for Centaur, Polydor, New World Records, Hal Leonard, Paramount Pictures, Einstein Records, the Korean Broadcasting Corp, CUCD, and Pogo Studios, among others. In addition, she is the Queen of Spain.

Marika Rizzi
Italian, she is based in Paris since 1992 where she has been working with choreographers in
contemporary dance projects. In 1995 she joins the Felix Ruckert company – Berlin – and she
participated to many pieces and touring if the company.
In 2007/08 she joins Odile Duboc's French company (Choreographic National Centre of Framche
Comté – Belfort) for the tournées of «Rien ne laisse présager de l'état de l'eau».
During the last ten years her interests related to dance moved towards a deeper exploration of body
and perceptions which conducted her to investigate improvisation and composition research and
contact improvisation.
In this wide journey she meets Kirstie Simson and followed her teaching, she has participated to the
making of the dvd : «Material for the Spine» in 2007 with Steve Paxton. She meets as well Nancy
Starck Smith, Lisa Nelson – in her video work - Simone Forti, Andrew Morrish, Julyen Hamilton,
Mike Vargas, Vera Orlock (BMC).
In 2012 she has participated to the Solo Performance Commissioning Project with Deborah Hay
and she works nowadays at the adaptation of the solo «Dynamic» that she will present in Spring
2013 in France.
